Serena and Soldier.

Medium
Photograph - High Resolution Images.
Description
Serena's appearance is certainly unremarkable, a standard bay with no blaze. However she is one the most amazing wild horses you'll find anywhere. She is a fierce protector of her young colt Soldier.

Paul – congratulations on this image being selected as an initial candidate for consideration in the July "Photo of the Month" for the Go Take a Hike Photography Group. Even though not advancing as a finalist, this image is most worthy of recognition as a superb photographic effort, so congratulations and well done!

How do wild horses get their names? Do you name them?
Paul Martin replied:
That's a great question. Some herds have a volunteer management group that names and documents all horses in their herd. Of course, none of this is "official" but most locals will know the horse by it's commonly used name. Serena & Soldier were named by the Salt River Wild Horse Management Group.
